Choosing a Calgary Real Estate Brokerage

Making the right choice of which Calgary real estate brokerage you choose to affiliate with is very important.  There are a number of key considerations ranging from brand, to support to training.   Find the “fit” that’s right for you- it can have a huge impact not only on your initial development, but also with your ongoing success in the real estate industry.  The following are some questions which you may wish to consider when making this choice.

Foundation and Ownership

  • Are they locally owned and operated or are there multiple layers of bureaucracy in order to make decisions?
  • Where do they rank in regard to Market Share in Calgary?
  • How solid are they financially to withstand periodic economic downturns?

Management and Support

  • Do they have multiple Managers handling specialized roles, or does one person try to do everything?
  • Do the Managers compete with the realtors in a selling role?
  • Do Realtors have access to multiple offices facilities?

Culture

  • What specific types of events do they provide for their Realtors?
  • Are they involved in, and with local events and charities?
  • What do their own REALTORS® say about their company?

Marketing

  • Do they have a full time Marketing Manager?
  • What is their marketing budget for the current year and how is it being allocated?
  • Are the Realtors marketing contributions being spend locally, or filtered into other geographic areas as well?

Training

  • Do they have a full time Training Manager?
  • What specific programs do they have to assist with your personal development?
  • How do they use technology to enhance their training?

Technology

  • Do all Realtors have their own Virtual Office and what does it include?
  • What is the extent of their Social Media presence?
  • What is the extent of technology available for use in the offices?
